Effective 2026-05-29. Applies to all client testimonials and reviews displayed on troyaccounting.tax.
Our commitment
Every testimonial published on this site is from an actual current or former Troy Accounting client. We do not invent quotes, purchase reviews, or republish reviews from other sources without permission. We do not pay clients for testimonials. The FTC Endorsement Guides apply to our reviews, and we apply them strictly.
How testimonials are collected
We collect testimonials in three ways. First, voluntary submissions from clients during or after quarterly business reviews. Second, follow-up after material engagement milestones (successful audit defense, year-end close, multi-state cleanup) where we ask whether the client is willing to share their experience. Third, in-person remarks during meetings that, with the client's written permission, we may quote. We never publish a client comment without explicit written consent.
Verification before publication
Before publication, every testimonial passes through three checks: (1) the named client confirms in writing that the quote is accurate and that we may publish it; (2) the practice lead confirms the underlying facts (the work described actually happened, the savings or outcomes referenced are reasonable representations of the actual result); (3) the editorial team confirms the language complies with this policy.
Anonymization
Most clients prefer to remain unnamed publicly. We respect that. When a client requests anonymization, we may publish: industry, approximate revenue range, business stage, geographic region (state or "U.S."), and a generic role title (CEO, CFO, Founder, Owner). We do not publish: the company name, the specific dollar amounts in a way that identifies the company, or any combination of facts that would reasonably identify the company. When a client agrees to be named, the full name and company appear with their consent.
Outcome claims
When a testimonial references a specific outcome (tax savings, time saved, audit result), we disclose any material context: (1) the result is the client's actual result, not a representative average; (2) results vary by entity, industry, and fact pattern; (3) past results are not a guarantee of future results. This language appears in the page footer of any page that prominently features outcome-based testimonials.
Currency
Testimonials are dated. Anything older than 36 months is either re-confirmed with the client or removed. If a client we previously quoted later terminates the engagement or asks us to remove their testimonial, we remove it within five business days.
Material connections
If a published reviewer received any consideration (a discounted month, an in-kind incentive, a referral fee), we disclose the material connection adjacent to the review. We have not paid for any review currently published on this site.
Negative reviews and corrections
If a client publishes a negative review on a third-party platform (Google, Yelp, etc.), we respond publicly under our firm name without retaliating, address the substance, and offer to take the conversation private. We do not request removal of negative reviews based solely on the rating.
Reporting a concern
If you believe a testimonial on this site is inaccurate, was published without consent, or violates this policy, email info@troyaccounting.net with subject "Review Concern". We acknowledge within five business days and investigate.
